Ruth May (Gabel) Markley, 72, of Dallastown, passed away at UPMC Memorial, on Monday, October 17, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold E. Markley, who passed away in August of this year.

Mrs. Markley was born in Gary, IN on September 28, 1950 and was the daughter of the late William R. and M. Marie (Adams) Gabel.

Ruth worked for the federal government for more than 35 years for the DCMA care of BMY/BAE, a job she truly loved and where the work she did saved the lives of American soldiers. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown, a former girl scout leader and enjoyed racing in many forms, from sprint cars to NASCAR. Above everything else she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie L. Barshinger and her husband Anthony; son, Matt R. Markley and his wife Jennifer. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Ella, Colton and Hunter Markley and Kylee and Madilyn Barshinger; as well as her brother, William R. Gabel and his wife Caroline and her sister, Reba Gabel.

A funeral service to honor Ruth's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 24 ^th at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313, with the Rev. David Stough officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday and will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment will follow Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth's name can be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Children's Library.
