Obituary

Shirley R. (Tome) Seitz, 86, of Red Lion, passed away peacefully at WellSpan York Hospital on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was the devoted and beloved wife of Elmer J. Seitz, sharing 69 years of marriage and 73 wonderful years together. Their love story was one of faith and unwavering commitment.

Born on March 23, 1939, in Red Lion, Shirley was the daughter of the late Lester and Beatrice (Strayer) Tome.

A loving and dedicated mother, Shirley was the heart of her family. She is survived by her sons, Elmer L. Seitz and his wife Carla, Donald E. Seitz and his wife Melanie, and Kevin A. Seitz and his girlfriend Michelle. Nothing brought Shirley greater joy than her role as grandmother to Amanda, James, Eric, Nicole, and Morganne, and as great-grandmother to Bennett, Parker, Mason, Maci, Clyde, Millie Mae, and one great-grandchild on the way. Her family was her pride and her greatest blessing.

Shirley is also survived by her half-sisters, Darlene Markel and Sandy Tome, and her half-brothers, Ricky Shaw and Ken Tome.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-brother, Robert Tome.

Well known throughout the area, Shirley spent many years as a dedicated Avon Sales Representative, earning recognition as a top sales leader multiple times. More than a salesperson, she built lasting friendships and truly enjoyed connecting with people. A self-described social butterfly, Shirley had a warm smile and a gift for making people feel welcome. She loved to travel and to be surrounded by those she loved.

A woman of strong faith, Shirley was a longtime and faithful member of Arlington Evangelical Congregational Church in Red Lion, where she found comfort and fellowship throughout her life.
