Sonny – Elmer D. Deitz, Jr., 73, of Red Lion, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 7, 2022. He was the husband of Danielle (Bressler) Deitz, whom he was married to for 26 years.

Born on October 14, 1948, in Dallastown, PA, he was the son of the late Elmer Deitz, Sr. and Rozella (Markey) Deitz.

A graduate of Dallastown High School, Sonny proudly served in the US Army and was a proud Vietnam War veteran. Following his enlistment, he worked for Markey Builders for over 40 years.

An avid rider with a passion for motorcycles, he was a long-standing member of The White Rose Motorcycle Club and AMA District 6. You would often find him spending time riding trials and participating in various motorcycle events. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time in Potter County, watching Penn State football, and playing with his dog Tootsie.

Along with his wife and mother, Sonny is survived by his stepson, Derrick Girouard and his wife, Alyssa, as well as his two grandchildren; stepdaughter Laurie Donahoue, and stepson Tim Flinchbaugh; two brothers, Dave Deitz (Deb) and Jay Deitz. He was also preceded in death by his brother Lee Deitz. He was known by many and will be greatly missed.

A viewing will be held at the New Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1873 New Fairview Church Road, York, on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 6-8pm. On Tuesday, February 15, a viewing will be heldat the church from 1-2pm, with a service to follow with Brother Paul Bentzel officiating.  A Military Honors Service will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 1pm. Arrangements are by Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc. Dallastown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the New Fairview Church of the Brethren.
