Obituary

Steven John King, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at his home in the loving care of his family. He was the devoted husband of Mary Ann (Marks) King; together they shared over 58 years of marriage.

Born on March 11, 1945 in York, PA, he was the son of the late Ruth Leona (King) Garvey. He was a 1963 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and completed an apprenticeship in mechanical drafting at Borg-Warner Corporation. Through persistence and hard work, he built a career in industrial equipment sales and management that spanned over 40 years with several companies and culminated with his retirement from Hansen Industrial Transmissions. He was an avid reader and a skillful cook; he enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife, Mary, Steve is survived by his daughter, Deborah M. Weitkamp and her husband, Clyde of Reading, PA: his sons, Michael D. King and his wife, Carol of Chesapeake, VA and Brian A. King of Midlothian, VA; his six loving grandchildren, Rachel Klemmer and her husband, John, Leah Starr and her husband, Aaron, Phoebe Weitkamp, Asa Weitkamp, Emily King, and Mariah King; his two loving great grandchildren, Zoe Klemmer and Joseph Klemmer; his brother, Scott Garvey and his wife, Christine of New Park, PA and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and his stepfather, William B. Garvey.

A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on May 2nd at 11:00am at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313, with Brother Paul Bentzel officiating. Interment will follow in The New Fairview Church Cemetery, York Township, York County, PA. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on May 1st from 6-8pm and May 2nd at 10:00am prior to the 11am service.
