Obituary

Steven P. Murphy "Murph", 59 of Dallastown passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025.  He was the beloved husband of 20 years to Lori A. Murphy, whom he married on November 19, 2004.

Born October 27, 1965 in Chicopee, MA, he was a son of the late Walter E. and Jose (Voss) Murphy.

Murph is fondly remembered for his jovial personality and loved to spend time with family and friends, and especially sharing with them his passion for culinary art, which was also his career path.  He was Head chef at Wyndridge Farm in Dallastown for 10 years until his recent medical retirement.  He also enjoyed fishing, crabbing and sports, especially cheering for his beloved Ravens and Orioles.  Additionally, he was a connoisseur of quality beers, especially IPAs, and quality spirits, especially Jameson and Jack Daniels.

In addition to his wife, Murph is survived by three step-children: Christina Geib, 32 and her husband Andrew of Gettysburg, Brady Carroll, 28 and his wife, Shannon of Maryland and Evan Carroll, 24 of Dallastown; one daughter, Natalie Murphy, 15 of Dallastown; three grandchildren: Aubree, 10; Noah, 10 and Ariel, 8; one brother, Patrick Murphy and partner Jennifer Roberts of Maryland, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Murph's family extends special heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers and best friends, Chris and Shelley Grimm for their kindness, love and compassion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Patrick Sean Murphy as well as his faithful dog, Fred.

A memorial service to celebrate Murph's life will be held at 3pm on Friday, May 2nd at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc; 104 W. Main St. in Dallastown with Chaplain Doug Dorula officiating.  The family will receive friends and share memories at the funeral home from 2pm until the start of the service.
