Susan E.
Spangler
Dec 17, 1949 — Feb 5, 2025
York Township
Susan E. Spangler, 75, of York passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at her residence. Susan was born on December 17, 1949, in Dallastown to the late Harold G. and Gail (Snelbaker) Heilman. She was the devoted wife of Aaron M. Spangler until his passing in 1999.
Susan was a devoted lover of all animals, and her deep bond with her late dog, Daisy, was one of the many examples of her caring nature.
Professionally, she worked for Triangle Printing before deciding to pursue a new challenge, obtaining her CDL License and becoming a proud garbage truck driver for Refuse, where she was a familiar face in the community. Her strong work ethic and determination were evident in everything she did.
In her free time, Susan was an active member of the Dallastown American Legion, where she formed lasting friendships and enjoyed giving back to her community. She found great joy in taking bus trips with the Golden Agers and embarking on road trips with her favorite dog, Daisy. She was a beloved member of her card club where she enjoyed the camaraderie of the girls. Susan had a fabulous laugh that filled you with joy and was contagious when heard. She enjoyed whistling a tune and her grandsons would always get a kick out of it when they heard her. Above all, she was a doting grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandsons. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and her legacy of kindness, humor, and warmth will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Susan is survived by her daughter Erica S. Norris and her son Brent Spangler; her grandchildren Cory Norris and fiancé Seren Erb and Cody Norris and wife Shalen. She is also survived by her siblings James Heilman and wife Georgia, Mike Heilman and wife Julia, and JoAnn Anderson and husband Richard; nieces and nephews, who she loved very much, as well as her grand animals, who she held dear to her heart.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Aaron M. Spangler, brothers Robert and Wilson Heilman and her beloved dog Daisy. Susan will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Church- Dallastown at 1:00 pm on February 15, 2025, with Pastor David Stough officiating. A time to visit with the family will be held from 12:00 pm to the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity closest to your heart. She was a member of Dallastown Legion Post 605 and Bethlehem Church Dallastown.
