Sylvia K. (Eveler) Snyder, of Springettsbury Township, passed away at UPMC Memorial, two days before her 86 th birthday. She was the beloved wife of Philip W. Snyder, Sr. The couple would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this January.
Mrs. Snyder was born in Dallastown on November 30, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Elsie K. (Schoff) Eveler.
Sylvia was a 1954 graduate of York Catholic High School. Throughout her life she worked for several local businesses in York, including Murphy's Five and Dime, Farmer's Fire Insurance, McCrory's and Maple Donuts, but for most of her life she was a dedicated and loving homemaker. Sylvia enjoyed going camping and doing word finds, and she loved watching Hallmark movies.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children; daughter, Jacqueline Stubbs and son, Philip W. Snyder, II and his wife Jan. She is also survived by her three grandsons, Corey Stubbs and his wife Celina, Colby Stubbs and his Wife Nichole, and Cody Stubbs and his wife Emily; granddaughter, Brooke Snyder and great grandson, Edison Stubbs. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Eveler and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Joan Eveler.
A service to honor Sylvia's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 4 th at The Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Fr. Mark Weiss officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Saturday and will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment to follow in Dallastown Union Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UPMC Memorial, for the care they had provided for Sylvia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the York County SPCA or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
