Terry J. Tyson, 86, of Red Lion, passed away peacefully, August 17, 2026, at his home from a long battle with kidney disease. He was the husband of Gerry (Rider) Tyson who he married 65 years ago on July 1, 1961. Terry was born in Dallastown on August 11, 1940, to the late James M. Tyson and the late Anna Mary (Grove) Tyson.

After graduation from Dallastown High school in 1958, he worked for Colonial Products and the US Postal Service before enlisting in the US Air Force. His Air Force service was from January 1961 until July 1986. During his enlistment period, he served in England, California, Viet Nam, West Virginia, Alabama, Germany, finally retiring from Malmstrom AFB, Montana -- “The Last Best Place”. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Shelley Moving & Storage, Brown’s Orchard and volunteered faithfully at Bethlehem Church in Dallastown.

In addition to his wife, Gerry, he is survived by his two children, Lori A. Seitz of York and Scott A. Tyson of Red Lion. Also surviving are two grandsons, Christopher Seitz of Spring Grove and Taten Tyson (wife Kayla) of Red Lion, brothers, Charles Tyson and Barry Tyson and a sister, Theda Mickey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Thalia Carter of Indiana and sister-in-law, Judy Tyson.

A special thank you to his wonderful caregivers, Tonya, Stephanie, Roxanne and Doug who made it possible for his family to focus on spending his last days together. A memorial service to honor Terry’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Church- Dallastown or to your favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Bethlehem Church, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313. The family will receive friends for visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens will be private.
