Obituary

Thomas H. Brown, age 80, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, July 13, 2025. A proud veteran, devoted family man, and friend to many, Tom lived a full life grounded in service, tradition, and joy.

Born on September 4, 1944, in Dayton, Texas, Tom was the son of the late Raymond Brown and Lois (McBroom) Brown. He entered the United States Navy in 1962, where he served his country with honor and distinction for 25 years, retiring in 1987 with the rank of E7. Following his military career, Tom continued to serve others through his work as a skilled tool and die maker, fully retiring in 1999.

Tom married the love of his life, Yvonne "Bonnie" Benton, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing. Together they raised a family and created countless memories—many centered around family cookouts, a tradition he held dear.

A man of many passions, Tom found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: hunting, fishing, fine cigars, whiskey, and good country music—especially tunes from Willie's Roadhouse. He had a fondness for fireworks and firearms, and a heart that lit up most when surrounded by his family.

Tom is survived by his two sons, William Brown and Raymond Brown and his wife Dawn. He was a proud grandfather to Thomas Hunter Brown, Rebecca Charlene Brown, Samantha Connie Ray, Eric Taylor Six and his wife Candace, Brianna Nicole Nixon, Laci Nicole Brown, Aryanna Louise Brown Sassani and her husband Hunter, and Jennifer Saxton and her husband Eric. His legacy continues through his seven great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Bonnie May Vowell, Patty Jean Brown Ellison and her husband Tommy, and John Howard Brown. In addition to his wife and parents, Tom was preceded in death by his siblings Nona Rose Brown, Rose May Patek, and Roger Wayne Benton, as well as his daughter-in-law, Tammy Brown.

A graveside service to honor Tom's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are kindly asked to gather at the cemetery entrance by 9:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Red Lion VFW.
