Thomas W. Izat, 85, of York, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, at Celebration Villa of York.

Born in Westernport, Maryland, on November 7, 1940, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Shearer) Izat.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Barbara Ann (Taccino) Izat, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in April 2026.

A proud veteran, Thomas served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful career as an engineer with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

Thomas had a lifelong love of horses and greatly enjoyed horseback riding. He was also an accomplished aviator who held a private pilot's license and enjoyed flying both single-engine airplanes and gliders. A man of deep faith, Thomas was a devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Harrisburg, where he was active in parish life and faithfully served as an usher. He was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Thomas is survived by his son, David Izat and his wife, Lynn; his daughter, Donna Hull and her husband, Mark; his granddaughter, Becky Hull and her husband, Peter Harrison; his niece, Kelli Kidwell; and his sister-in-law, Aldine Izat.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, George Izat.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 110 State Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101. Burial will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
