Vernon A. Deardorff, 87, of Springettsbury Township, passed away on Friday, December 11 ^th at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia J. (Shutt) Deardorff. The couple was married for over 63 years, until her passing on 2019.

Mr. Deardorff was born in York on November, 8, 1933 and was the son of the late Harvey E. and Pauline M. (Briggs) Deardorff.

Vernon was the traffic controller for Edgcombe Metals and retired after 45 years of service. He also worked part time as a custodian for the Dallastown Area School District. Vernon loved watching and playing an array of sports, especially baseball and softball. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed going to the York Revolution baseball games with his family.

Vernon cherished his family and loved spending time with them.  He is survived his four children, Beverly A. Rudisill of Hanover, Karen L. Slonaker and her husband, Anthony of York, Cathy S. Fogle and her husband, Rodney of York and Barry L. Deardorff of York.  He is also survived by five grandchildren; five great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Deardorff and his sister, Doris Taylor.
