Obituary

Vivian E. (Foust) Fitzkee, 93 of York passed on to her Heavenly home on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Misericordia Nursing & Rehab Center in York.  She was the beloved wife of 72 years to Robert L. Fitzkee.

Born April 12, 1929 in Spry, she was a daughter of the late Paul E. and Ada V. (Slenker) Foust.

Mrs. Fitzkee loved God and cherished spending time with family and friends.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, snowmobiling, crossword puzzles, playing the piano and working in the candy shop.  A graduate of William Penn High School, she also attended music classes at Washington University in St. Louis. Vivian was an active member of the York First Church of the Brethren, former member of the Travelers Protective Association and local Arthritis Foundation. She served a long career in the family business, Fitzkee's Candies, for over 70 years, recently retiring in 2022 at the age of 93.

In addition to her husband, Vivian is survived by three children: Steven R. Fitzkee and his wife, Nancy of York, Gail S. Rutland (wife of the late Ronald) of Seven Valleys and Deidre E. Wilkins and her husband, Terry of Gaithersburg, MD; one brother, Gene Foust and his wife Ann, sister-in-law, Thelma Foust, six grandchildren, Clint, Angie, Stephanie, Daniel, Joshua and Zachary, and ten great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two siblings: Millicent Foust Wambaugh and Paul Foust Jr., as well as her son-in-law, R.W. Rutland.

A funeral service to celebrate Vivian's life will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday, March 15 th at York First Church of the Brethren; 2710 Kingston Rd. in York with Pastor Joel Gibbel officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Rose Cemetery in York.  A time to share memories and gather with the family will also be on Wednesday morning at the church from 10:30am until the start of the service.

The family extends their special, heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Misericordia Nursing & Rehab Center for the excellent and loving care they provided to Vivian and their entire family.
